Day 4 of out wonderful Easter Bonnet week and it’s the turn of the fabulous Sun Hats and Wellie Boots who takes Easter inspiration from the springtime daffodils.

The wonderful thing about Easter Bonnets is that they can be as simple or elaborate as you 
like. I think some parents view the annual Easter bonnet parade as an Ascot event, but in my view the best hats are those which have been crafted with love, & the ones which the children feel comfortable wearing.
My daughter (3 yrs) has this year made her first Easter bonnet! She was desperate to make a daffodil hat with ladybirds on, so we came up with this simple design which is ideal for preschoolers to create.
To make our Daffodil Easter Bonnet we used: 2 sheets of A4 green card, green pipecleaners, 1 sheet of yellow card, orange tissue paper
For the base of the hat, cut one sheet of green A4 card in half to create two long strips, & cut thin triangular shapes from the other sheet to create strands of grass. (If you have no coloured card, colour or paint strips of white card, or the inside of a cereal packet.) Glue the strips to the base of the hat to create a garden effect. We added some strips of lighter green card to create some contrast.
To create the flowers, my 3yr old drew her daffodil shapes onto yellow card, which we cut out and attached to the green pipe cleaners using sticky tape.
Instead of creating your own flowers you could cut out different flowers from a gardening magazine, or make some using different coloured tissue paper.
If you didn’t want to decorate your Easter bonnet with flowers, how about adding egg shapes, or bees, butterflies, or mini rabbits?
For the centre of the flowers we scrunched up sections of orange tissue paper. Alternatively you could decorate with pens, sequins, or sticky shapes.
Attach the pipe cleaners to the hat using sticky tape.
Wrap the card around your child’s head to get an accurate fit, & then secure the edges of the card with tape.
We added a few ladybirds & butterflies to our Easter bonnet & turned our hat into an ‘eye spy’ game.
If you wish to secure your Easter bonnet a little more, just attach two strands of ribbon either side at the base of the hat.
This hat has been paraded around the garden & house on several occasions & become a favourite seasonal accessory.
