Easter is here and despite the fact the weather is doing its best impression of a bleak mid winter, here at Team Netmums we are doing our utmost to channel spring sunshine and Easter fun!
*************************************************************************
Last year we showed you how to make these rather impressive Easter cakes
(Although to be honest most of us resorted to the far simpler ‘easy-peasy-any- fool-can make-’em’ ‘chocolate Rice Krispie/Cornflakes nests – we face the fact that we are never going to win the Great British Bake Off)
This year, however we are sharing an Easter craft idea that even the non-craftiest of us can accomplish – and they are so sweet. Drum roll please……. We give you the easiest ever cutest no sew Easter Sock Bunnies!
If your house is anything like ours there will be a basket/drawer/ pile in the corner of forlorn and lonely socks without pairs. This pile will no doubt include some pretty fab socks that you hang onto in the hope that one day they will find their match somewhere in your laundry ‘system’. You know in your heart of hearts that they will be forever alone but you hang onto them in case their love match one day returns and they can be reunited …
Fret no more – these lost socks can be turned into an instant (almost), fab and unbearably cute Easter Sock Bunny that involves absolutely no sewing!
All you’ll need is things you’ll already have around the house, a pair of scissors and oh did we mention, it’s a no sew craft?!
- First choose your prettiest lost sock and fill with lentils (or cotton wool/scrunched up tissues/rice) just past the heel.
- Then wrap a rubber band round to seal in your rice (leaving the top ends of the sock free).
- Wrap another elastic band and then also tie a ribbon just below the heel to make the bunny’s head.
- Cut the sock cuff into two ears – rounding the edges a bit.
- Add eyes, nose and teeth from bits and bobs – mini pom poms, scraps of felt or fabric, buttons….And finally add a wee pom pom/button tail at the back.
And ta-dah – you’ve created your very own sock bunny!
